I can't believe the next cleanse is starting THIS SUNDAY!!! I am looking forward to prep week! If you are just now hearing about this, check out the flyer below to get a better understanding as to what the cleanse consists of!
Sara and I hope to be seeing you this weekend! Namaste!Grace
Today's topic is something that I discuss with many of my clients and students so I thought it was about time to bring it up in cyberspace and write about it on my blog. When you have a job like me and you are working in field that revolves around the human condition, you learn pretty quickly that everyone you meet has a different opinion as to what that should be like. On a daily basis I listen to how others feel about this topic and am asked about my own point of view just as often; so today I'd like to share my "Top 5" tips for healthful success.

To finish out our cleansing month of January, I'd like to talk about coming down from a cleanse "without the crash". So, what is the "crash" anyway? Let me put it this way; I think that many of us who have cleansed in the past have made the same mistake of eating all of the things we weren't allowed to eat...all at once...the day after a cleanse has ended. And then we feel absolutely terrible for a few days after our binge-fest is over. OR we completely forget everything we've learned within our detox journey and go back to old habits for the pure fact of enjoying simple convenience.
Today I will give you a few tips to avoid making this same mistakes that so many of us have come into contact with in post detox experiences.

So last week we discussed why we should be cleansing our bodies and what detox actually means. This week we will be going over ways to get you, your home and your bod ready for the process of cleaning from the inside out! Get ready for January with FBCM - it's a month to reset, renew and clarify!
Whether you are participating in the "New Year, ReNew You" cleanse with Sara Streeter and I at the Zen Zone - or if you've even just considered doing a detox - here are a few ways to get you ready to make the jump into full transition of a cleanse.
The new year is finally here! Aren't you ready to wash away the waste of 2012 and create space for all that is positive in 2013? What better time than now to reset your lifestyle? And what more perfect way to do it than to detox and participate in a cleanse?
One of the most common responses to this statement is,"Yeah, okay, so...what is a cleanse? Why would I want to detox?"
These are both great questions. Detox is short for detoxification; which is the body's natural, ongoing process of neutralizing and/or eliminating toxic waste from the body. Toxins are anything than can potentially harm the body; we can become exposed to them from our environment, food, water and lifestyle choices. A cleanse is a change in one's lifestyle for a certain amount of time (in this case 21 days) to rid the body of toxic waste on many levels. In yoga we learn that it is important to cleanse the body, mind and spirit of physical, mental and emotional waste. So my question is, why wouldn't you want to detox?
First off, I'd like to give a big thanks to Nathan Engert for fixing my website! Secondly, with all of the assessments I've been working on and workshops I am preparing for, I'll be taking a break from the site for a bit. On that note, I would like to invite you to participate in the "New Year, ReNew You" cleanse that Sara Streeter - from D Street Wellness - and I will be leading at the Zen Zone!
I hope to see you there! If not, I'll see you on here in January! Enjoy the holiday season!:)
If you haven't heard about it yet on facebook, you may have noticed that my website has been hacked into. I have yet to find a way to fix it but if you or someone you know is interested in helping me, please message me!
With that out of the way, we move on to better things! After a very grateful Thanksgiving and with Christmas in the near future, I am in the giving mood! From now through the month of December I am offering a reduced rate (half off - which is practically unheard of) on Private Dosha Assessments! Learn how you personally connect to the elements and how this affects your body, mind and spirit!
One of my favorite things about living in the mid-west is that we are able to experience all four of the seasons. Although I love summer, I am excited for a change of pace. As autumn begins we are able to enjoy beautiful weather, multi-colored leaves, earth toned fashion, boots and ponchos... but if you are anything like me (and many others) all of the excitement of fall comes along with sinus pressure, allergies and the sniffles. Today I am sharing with you a few postures that can help you to relieve some of these season-changing symptoms.
I leave for the west coast in 3 days!!! First David and I will be traveling to Copper Mountain in Colorado for the Wanderlust Festival, then we will go to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and make our way to California! Once we get to CA we will visit Lake Arrowhead and then San Diego - those of you in the San Diego area, come visit me at Soleil Yoga on Saturday July 14th from 12:30-3pm for the Remover of Obstacles Workshop! On our way home we are going the desert route through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Be sure to check out photo updates of our travels on Facebook and Twitter.
When I get back, I invite all of my KC yogis to the Intro to Ayurvedic Medicine Workshop at the Zen Zone in Lee's Summit. Continue reading for more details about the event
This Saturday will mark the 8th session of my "Yogic Exploration" workshop; which is causing a large mixture of feelings to emerge. First I experienced sadness because I love this group of wonderful and powerful yoginis that I have gotten to know so well over the past two months - so part of me does not want it to end (kind of like a kid at the end of summer camp). But at the same time I am incredibly excited to begin my next workshop "Mindful Yoga".
Join me for a once weekly – month long practice of thoughtful participation in a two hour session of Hatha yoga and group discussion. This workshop is ideal for any one who currently does or would like to begin approaching their practice with an open mind and an open heart.
