Today I am going to start with a quote in which I truly believe 100%, "A healthy body isn't the same without a healthy mind." I'm not quite sure who said that, but they are the spoken words of simple wisdom. What is the point of creating a strong machine to live in if we don't plan on taking care of the power source?
There are many ways that we can improve the health of the mind, starting with "Mind Time"; or how you split up your mental activity through out the day. So let's go mental, in a good way!

As promised, before the end of the month is up, I am sharing another meditation "flash back" article from the past year to refresh your memory. ;-)
I would like to open with a quote that inspired this post by Russell Simmons on mediation and the present moment.
"Presence is the only thing that creates. You cannot have an idea in the future or the past. You can't be funny or laugh, or be happy in either the future or the past. You need presence. You want to be able to walk throughout your day and see what is in front of you...watch the miracles unfold. You have to see it. That's the only time you're there, is when you're there. Meditation promotes this."
Essentially you could dig into your past or dream of your future all day long, but you will be wasting away at the present moment. If you spend all of your time reminiscing of memories that have already happened or ideas that haven't even occurred, you will miss all of the wonderful things that are going on around you right now. Tune into this moment, right now.
With all of the snow I've had time to go through older articles and I've found some that coincide with this month's theme quite well, so I'm going to start with this "Flash Back" of the "12 Prinicples of Meditation" and I may share a few more before the month is up! I hope that you are having fun in the snow, or are inside snuggled up with something warm to drink! Enjoy this refresher! Namaste!!! :)
Today's discussion covers a topic that most want to achieve, yet can be confusing and difficult to actually accomplish. We all know that meditation is important in any yoga practice, but sometimes this seems "easier said than done". How do we find that spiritual connection between mind and body? Many of us are so busy in our everyday lives...is it even possible to find that level of consciousness?
Yes it is hard work, but we get there with practice. Yes it is possible to find that level of consciousness, we get there with patience. Along with the "12 Principles of Meditation" - composed by Swami Vishnu - Devananda.
Happy Valentines Day! As we continue with our month of heart-opening meditation, I thought it would be a good idea to share mantras for love...seeing as how it is supposed to be the most loving day of the year and all!
For those of you who aren't quite sure what a mantra is, here is a quick description:Most of us have an idea as to what we want but aren't quite sure how to begin to create that transformation. Mantras can be a word or a phrase that act as a guide to help us set our intentions for change within ourselves; by vibrating that intention from our beings verbally with chanting or simply with "thought forms" within our minds.
Just wanted to share this quick but helpful video to jump start the month of February! After asking readers what they would like to see most this month, meditation got the majority vote, hands down. So we will spend the next few weeks focusing on heart opening, mind clearing, meditative activities that you can practice at home!
I will be catching up with you soon!
If you haven't heard about it yet on facebook, you may have noticed that my website has been hacked into. I have yet to find a way to fix it but if you or someone you know is interested in helping me, please message me!
With that out of the way, we move on to better things! After a very grateful Thanksgiving and with Christmas in the near future, I am in the giving mood! From now through the month of December I am offering a reduced rate (half off - which is practically unheard of) on Private Dosha Assessments! Learn how you personally connect to the elements and how this affects your body, mind and spirit!
This evening and/or tomorrow morning astronomers, sky-watchers and curious on lookers all around the entire world will be able to claim witness to the transit of Venus - a celestial event that will not occur again for more than a century.
For most people the transit will offer a chance to refine the understanding of the planet Venus as well as enhance our knowledge of other planets and stars. For others it may mean something else, as in Katy Poole's case, where the unique experience of the Venus Transit stands for reinvention and revolution.

This Saturday will mark the 8th session of my "Yogic Exploration" workshop; which is causing a large mixture of feelings to emerge. First I experienced sadness because I love this group of wonderful and powerful yoginis that I have gotten to know so well over the past two months - so part of me does not want it to end (kind of like a kid at the end of summer camp). But at the same time I am incredibly excited to begin my next workshop "Mindful Yoga".
Join me for a once weekly – month long practice of thoughtful participation in a two hour session of Hatha yoga and group discussion. This workshop is ideal for any one who currently does or would like to begin approaching their practice with an open mind and an open heart.
Spring is upon us, although in Kansas City it feels more like summer! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful 80 degree weather and sunshine as much as I am! :)
In March we challenged ourselves to live well by:
Each month we choose to live well physically, mentally and spiritually to be able to truly grow and expand within our lives. This month we change our goals and set our intentions in a new path as we tune into the self and continue to find dedication in our practice!
