Day Dreams, Real Dreams and Dream Weaving

A Submission of my Truth

Namaste yogis!

I am going to treat this article as if I were writing an entry to my personal diary. I am going to get real with you. A completely authentic. no holding back, this is exactly how I feel sort of thing. This is me offering my dreams to the universe; it is a submission of my truth.

Okay, here goes nothing....or everything.

As many creative Vata types are, I spend my time daydreaming. I mean LOTS of time day dreaming!!! I fill my head with so many ideas that I usually forget them before I have the chance to get them down on paper. For example I have spent the last four years day dreaming that I would get my 200-hour training complete. But did I take action? Not until recently. I have decided that day dreaming is great and I never want to give that up, but this whole "forgetting about ideas" thing has got to stop...

Grace's Ashram Trip

Help me reach my goal!

Namaste yogis!

A few years ago I traveled to the Shoshoni Yoga Ashram in Rollinsville, Colorado, for a retreat with a couple of my friends. While I was there I found out that they offered in depth training for instructors and it was in that moment that I formed the dream of someday returning to extend my knowledge as a teacher.

This past weekend Sadie Nardini and Tyler Mccoy visited The Zen Zone and I was able to attend 11 hours of incredible yoga bliss with two of the most talented instructors in the country! I shared with them my dreams as well as insecurities and they inspired me to take control of my life!!! And today I am doing just that. I come to you, yoga practitioners, with a request that you help me fulfill my goal of continuing my education as a yoga teacher at the Shoshoni Yoga Ashram.

Mind Time

Going mental...in a good way!

Namaste yogis!

Today I am going to start with a quote in which I truly believe 100%, "A healthy body isn't the same without a healthy mind." I'm not quite sure who said that, but they are the spoken words of simple wisdom. What is the point of creating a strong machine to live in if we don't plan on taking care of the power source?

There are many ways that we can improve the health of the mind, starting with "Mind Time"; or how you split up your mental activity through out the day. So let's go mental, in a good way!

Top 5 Tips for Healthful Success

It's probably not what you would expect

Namaste yogis!

Today's topic is something that I discuss with many of my clients and students so I thought it was about time to bring it up in cyberspace and write about it on my blog. When you have a job like me and you are working in field that revolves around the human condition, you learn pretty quickly that everyone you meet has a different opinion as to what that should be like. On a daily basis I listen to how others feel about this topic and am asked about my own point of view just as often; so today I'd like to share my "Top 5" tips for healthful success.

Tune into now, Meditate on the Moment

Flash Back

Namaste yogis!

As promised, before the end of the month is up, I am sharing another meditation "flash back" article from the past year to refresh your memory. ;-)

I would like to open with a quote that inspired this post by Russell Simmons on mediation and the present moment.

"Presence is the only thing that creates. You cannot have an idea in the future or the past. You can't be funny or laugh, or be happy in either the future or the past. You need presence. You want to be able to walk throughout your day and see what is in front of you...watch the miracles unfold. You have to see it. That's the only time you're there, is when you're there. Meditation promotes this."

Essentially you could dig into your past or dream of your future all day long, but you will be wasting away at the present moment. If you spend all of your time reminiscing of memories that have already happened or ideas that haven't even occurred, you will miss all of the wonderful things that are going on around you right now. Tune into this moment, right now.

12 Principles of Meditation

Flash Back

Namaste yogis!

With all of the snow I've had time to go through older articles and I've found some that coincide with this month's theme quite well, so I'm going to start with this "Flash Back" of the "12 Prinicples of Meditation" and I may share a few more before the month is up! I hope that you are having fun in the snow, or are inside snuggled up with something warm to drink! Enjoy this refresher! Namaste!!! :)

Today's discussion covers a topic that most want to achieve, yet can be confusing and difficult to actually accomplish. We all know that meditation is important in any yoga practice, but sometimes this seems "easier said than done". How do we find that spiritual connection between mind and body? Many of us are so busy in our everyday lives...is it even possible to find that level of consciousness?

Yes it is hard work, but we get there with practice. Yes it is possible to find that level of consciousness, we get there with patience. Along with the "12 Principles of Meditation" - composed by Swami Vishnu - Devananda
